Canon[]
First Meeting[]
Charles and Shao first met when they were children at kindergarten as Shao got into a scuffle with a student from another class.
Charles neutralized the scuffle and got himself hurt. Because of Charles, disciplinary actions were taken against Shao and his merit points were deducted. Shao confronted Charles due to his tattling.
Charles told his to take responsibility for his actions which infuriated the aggressive Shao. Two people walked by and Charles pretended to be in pain as if Shao had hit him. This caused Shao to drop out of school and be humiliated by his family.
Development[]
Shao came back to Momos under the supervision of Anubis. He was tasked with ruining the Princes and so he did for a while by spreading out of context offensive pictures of them.Though Shao had an alternative motive, getting his revenge on Charles. He pretended to be friends with him just to ease suspicions. However, his mask is easily found out as he had no intention to hide his motivations for so long. This continued on until Prince Series 20: Aces of Strategy : Games, when Shao thought he had the upperhand;working with Gion, Shintarou and Livio. Shao and Charles continued on their rivalry and issues. It all tipped when Charles manipulated Shao into losing the board game, taking advantage of his devotion to Anubis.

This ship is fairly popular in the fandom, though its considered to problematic and toxic to most . A lot of the shippers have counteract the canon material, preferring and creating AUs where Charles and Shao were close friends
However some shippers indulge in the toxicity of the ship and pay no mind to the quota
